HOW TO MAKE TRAP MUSIC

Trap music is defined by its 808s, hi-hat rolls, and hard-hitting snares. Getting the sound right comes down to a few key elements: a deep, pitchable 808 bassline, a snare on the 2 and 4, and rapid hi-hat patterns that drive energy.

Start with your tempo — trap typically runs between 130–170 BPM. Program a basic kick pattern, add a cracking snare, then layer your 808 to move with the melody. Hi-hats come last: use rolls with velocity variation to keep things human.

Melody in trap is usually simple — a few notes over a minor or pentatonic scale, run through a dark reverb. In Sesh, you can collaborate on beats in real time, swap samples, and export stems when you're ready to mix.
